It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilia Da Rosa. Beloved mother, sister and Avó (grandma) Predeceased by her loving husband, Manuel. (This October 13th would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary) Marilia will be dearly missed by her daughters, Diane (Dan) and Denise (Luis) and grandchildren, Paige, Alanna, Isabella, Chelsea and Nicholas.
Marilia was a kind and fashionable lady who loved life. She loved to be around people and especially with her family. Marilia was a talented seamstress and could easily make beautiful outfits without a pattern. She enjoyed volunteering at Fleetwood Villa and Peninsula and made many friends there. Marilia was a compassionate and caring woman. When her older sister suffered a debilitating stroke, Marilia would take transit every day for 5 years to make sure she was well cared for. Marilia was an avid gardener and loved to bake. She shared the bounties of her garden and her baking with her neighbours, friends & family. Everyone looked forward to Marilia’s orange cake! Her generosity knew no bounds. She loved to travel. This past summer, she insisted on taking her whole family to her homeland, Portugal. This was her way of celebrating her 90th birthday, honouring her heritage and “showing off her beautiful grandchildren” she said. It was an amazing trip with an amazing lady. She will be missed.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Church, in Vancouver on Wednesday October 13th. Followed by the burial at 12:00 p.m. at Ocean View Cemetery in the Fountain Estates area. In lieu of flowers donations are gratefully accepted for the St. Michael’s Hospice Center or to the Canadian Liver Foundation. (https://www.liver.ca)
