Shirley Christina Mary Bourque passed away in her sleep on Nov. 9th, 2013, at the Czorny Alzheimer Centre.  She was born in Yorkton, Sask. on Aug. 26th, 1929. She is survived by her loving husband, Leon, her son Bob Simpson, her daughter, Janice Simpson, and her sister, Mervina Nordby (Gordy), her grandsons, Jordan and Tyler Simpson, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Jacob (Maury) and Loretta Tipton (Charles), and John Bourque (Marlene), step-son, Murray (Phapphim), grandsons Mervyn and Calvin and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister Rita Carson/Scroggie and her brother Tom Carson. Shirley worked in the report center of the Vancouver Police Dept. in the 1960’s, where she met Leon. They were married in 1973. She later worked at Vancouver City hall and became the Admin. Mgr. for the Civic Buildings Dept. until she retired in 1987. She and Leon, enjoyed the next twenty plus years of their retirement, traveling, sailing and keeping active, while wintering in Arizona, etc. Since June of 2011,  Shirley has been a resident at the Czorny Alzheimer Centre, in Surrey BC. The excellent care and attention she received, during her time at Czorny, has been a great help to all of her family, and very much appreciated. Shirley was a sweetheart to all who knew her. She was easy to love, and will always be remembered. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Monday November 18, 2013 at Gardens of Gethsemani Chapel. Burial to follow.
