Born on August 30th, 1940, in the small town of Silvares Portugal, Maria Da Silva, 84, was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and grandmother who passed peacefully with the presence of our lord on the morning of August 10, 2025.
Maria, who spent her early years living in Portugal alongside her parents and six siblings, could be defined as a soft, sweet and caring lady, who always showed her love through unspoken affection and through her actions.
She spent her life committed to the service of others, from serving in the restaurant industry, working as a housekeeper, to cooking or crocheting for those closest to her in life. Maria was selfless, and was further shown in 2004 as she retired to become a full-time Grandmother to care for her Grandson (Erick Dominguez)
Maria could often be found watching Portuguese Novellas on the television, being obsessed with Superman, refining her homegrown recipes, at church every Sunday morning, but never without a rosary tucked between her hands before bed.
In the end, Maria leaves behind her daughter, grandson, and an entire community of people who have been touched by her care, love and self-sacrificing demeanour. Now, she is once again reunited with the love of her life, and most likely driving around a beautiful coastline together.
We also want to thank the staff at Czorny alzheimer’s centre for all the care they gave to our beautiful mother/grandmother the last 4 years.
Maria’s service will take place on August 20th, 2025, at the Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery in Surrey, B.C., at 10:00 am. In place of flowers, please consider donating to the BC Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
