In Loving Memory of Agostinho Marques Covinha

Agostinho passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in Serra de Santo Antonio, Portugal, Agostinho’s journey through life took him far from his homeland to São Paulo, Brazil and onto Vancouver, Canada where he raised his family. Now he makes his final journey to Portugal to rest alongside his father (Jaime), and brother (Ilidio). Agostinho is survived by his wife, Isabel, and their children: Clara (Luis), Paula (Ron), and Nelson (Lora Lee). His spirit will live on through his grandchildren: Leanne, Katelyn, Lucas, Karena, Brianne, Miranda, and Mattias, as well as his great-grandchildren: Ayla, Khai, and Madelyn. Agostinho was a man of unwavering determination and an unyielding work ethic. He approached life with a strong sense of responsibility, always offering advice to those he loved. His wisdom was matched only by his love and care for his family, a legacy that will continue to guide them in their lives. He delighted in playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating countless joyful moments that will be cherished forever. In this time of grief, we celebrate the rich and fulfilling life of Agostinho Covinha, who leaves behind a legacy through his family. May he rest in eternal peace. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7:30pm Thursday September 28, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish 1423 East 13th Ave., Vancouver, B.C. Internment in Serra de Santo Antonio Cemetery, Portugal (No flowers by request).

Tribute :Our daughter married into the Covinha family 24 years ago to Agostinho and Isabel’s son Nelson. From that day onward we have always been a part of their family in any events happening and therefore got to know Agostinho as set out in the tribute posted. No truer words could have been said. A wonderful person who always smiled when he spoke to you. Always greeted you with open arms. We will miss his stories about his early life (which were often said) and In so many other ways. We’ll remember him by thinking he is working on his land in Portugal and enjoying every minute of it.
