Carreiro – Agostinho Ferreira Duarte
Agostinho Born on April 18, 1919 in Fenais da Luz, Ponta Delgada, Azores, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2007. After coming to Vancouver in 1957, he was able to have his wife and three children join him in 1960. He worked on the PGE Railway in Northern B.C. and then became a long time employee of Dillingham Construction, working on many large projects such as the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. Agostinho is survived by his wife Belmira and children, Manuel (Sara), Maria (Jim), John, Annette (Jim) and Odette (Bill). Also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Many thanks to the staff at the Banfield Pavilion for all of their care over the past 2 years. Evening prayers on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 7pm and a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 10am will be held in Agostinho’s honour at St. Patrick’s Parish, located at Main Street and 13th Avenue in Vancouver.
