Born in Fontelonga passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017 in Richmond at the age of 85. Predeceased by his eldest son, João José. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Julia, sons Carlos (Ada), Victor (Sunny) & John Paul (Jennifer), grandsons Matthew and Lucas, granddaughters Lia and Sara, great grandson Noah; and many extended family members and friends.
Tony, as he was affectionately known, arrived in Canada in 1955 with many other Portuguese immigrants who laid the foundation for the arrival of more relatives and friends with the ambition of achieving a better quality of life on North American shores. He met Julia in Vancouver in 1957 and they married shortly thereafter; raising four sons who provided Tony with four loving grandchildren, and a great grandson, whom he cherished dearly. While Tony was primarily a family man, he had a successful career as a masonry contractor and thoroughly enjoyed retirement on his blueberry and poultry farm in Richmond. He continued to cultivate his passions for winemaking, gardening and travel while enjoying a loving marriage of 59 years to Julia, right up until the day of his passing.
Prayers will be said at 10am on Friday, October 6 by Fr. Antonio at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Vancouver on 1423 East 13th Ave. The funeral mass will immediately follow at 10:30am and burial will be in Vancouver at Mountain View Cemetery
