Born March 17, 1929 in Ponta Delgada, Flores (Azores) passed away peacefully September 23, 2016 at the age of 87. Predeceased by Maria (Jesus) Silveira, Ed’s devoted wife of 58 years, who left us suddenly July 24 of this year, José (infant brother), second José (infant brother), Maria Ramos (mother), Francisco (infant brother), José Ambrosio (father), Antonio (brother), Maria (sister). Ed is survived by daughter Olivia (David), son Roger (Valerie), grandchildren Megan, Vincent and Rachel, his sisters Emilia, Ilda, Avelina, Ines and brother José (Joe). Ed also had many nieces and nephews. Ed immigrated to New Westminster December 24, 1964 from Flores, Portugal. He left Flores Island as a poor farmer and flourished in his new home and eventually became a proud Canadian citizen. Ed loved his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff and his friends at Hawthorne Assisted Living in Port Coquitlam where Ed spent his final years. He enjoyed many activities and became well known for his kind heart and glowing smile. Prayers will be said 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 828 Laval Square, Coquitlam B.C. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Father Mariano Barreto celebrant. Interment to follow at Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 Robinson St., Coquitlam, B.C. Where Eduino will be reunited with Maria.
