It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eric Pierce Hagemoen.

Eric was born in Wells, BC to parents Eilev Hagemoen and Margaret (Bunting).

Eric was the eldest of three, brothers who predeceased him were Steven (Mary),

and Ian (Pat). Eric grew up in South Burnaby, graduating from Burnaby South High School. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of nearly 57 years, Myra (Almyra Longworth) who passed away in July of 2017. Eric is survived by sons Mark and Daniel (Lori) and grandchildren, Alana, Matthew and Jacob (Bethany). Eric started his long career in the hardware business in 1955 at Woodward’s Dept. Store where he met Myra.

Eric and Myra were married in 1960 and made their home in North Vancouver where

they raised their 2 sons. Eric was well respected in the hardware business, working for such employers as Crown Zellerbach Canada, Hickman-Tye Hardware and Smith Barregar Ltd. As a young man Eric and some of his school friends often hiked on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam. They were given permission to build a small rustic cabin in the woods. They referred to themselves as “Woodsman” Eric was active in community service for much of his life, including the Knights of Columbus and various Church organizations. Eric and Myra attended Holy Trinity and St. Stephen’s parishes in North Vancouver and later moved to Port Moody where they attended St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Eric’s second love was his cabin on Shuswap Lake, where he enjoyed many wonderful days with his wife, family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to The Hawthorne Care Home in Port Coquitlam for their kindness and care of Eric in his final months. We are grateful for the life of Eric, especially his qualities of devotedness to family, straightforward and direct manner, loyalty and dependability.
