Francesco De Santis
September 19, 1949-October 7, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and
Nonno, Francesco De Santis. Born on September 19, 1949, in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy,
Francesco passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, in New Westminster, British Columbia, at
the age of 77.
Predeceased by his parents, Francesco is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Giuseppina;
his three sons, Joe (Ruth), Piero (Andrea), and Dario; and his six cherished grandchildren,
Antonio (Emilia), Alyssa, Giannluca, Alexander, Alexis, and Savannah. He will also be dearly
missed by his brother, Serafino (June), his sister, Filomena (John) Giandomenico, and extended
family and friends.
Francesco immigrated to Canada in 1967 with his father, in pursuit of new opportunities and a
better life. Later they were joined by Francesco’s mother and two siblings. In 1969, he was
introduced to the love of his life, and the two were married in 1970 in Winnipeg. They came
back to British Columbia and went on to build a beautiful life together, welcoming three sons
along the way. A hardworking and dedicated family man, Francesco spent many years working
at Canada Dry and later Coca-Cola Bottling, always committed to providing for those he loved.
In retirement, Francesco found joy in life’s simple pleasures: spending time with his
grandchildren, tending to his beloved garden, talking hockey with his sons, and honouring his
Italian heritage through cherished traditions of making homemade tomato sauce, preserving
vegetables, and preparing Italian sausages.
Francesco will be remembered for his infectious smile, his kind spirit, his strong work ethic and,
above all, his unwavering love and devotion to his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his
legacy lives on through those he loved, the traditions he passed down, and the countless
memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Royal Columbian Hospital for
the compassionate care provided to Francesco during his final days.
A visitation for family and friends wishing to pay their respects will be held on October 21, 2026
from 7pm-9pm at Oliveira Funeral Home-2657 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitlam, BC.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 12:00pm at St.
Francis of Assisi Parish-2025 Napier St. Vancouver, BC-followed by entombment at Ocean View
Burial Park, South Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and/or
Parkinson Society of British Columbia in Francesco’s memory.
