Lenie Verhoeve was born in Lisse, Holland on Sept 12, 1930 and passed away peacefully on Oct. 2nd, 2017 in the Peach Arch Hospice in White Rock, BC at the age of 87. She will be sadly missed by her husband, John, her son John Jr. (Deborah), her daughters Annette (Rick), Cindy (Chris) and Michele (Bob), plus her grandchildren Krista, Danica, Willem, Leah, Anneke, Maddy, Jackson and sister Cecilia Stroet.
Lenie immigrated to Canada in 1954 and married her fiancé, John, in 1955. Together with her husband, they created a wonderful life, first on Vancouver Island, then in Vancouver, and finally in South Surrey/White Rock. A devout Catholic, church and family were always important to Lenie. Her love for each family member was clearly evident in all she did. Helping people and volunteering for many various groups were a big part of her everyday life. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening (having a special love for tulips) and singing –in both the church choir and for the Maple Leaf Singers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5th at 1:30 pm at Star of the Sea Parish, 1153 Fir St, White Rock, BC by Fr. Francesco Voltaggio. Interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations are gratefully accepted for the Peace Arch Hospice Society. https://www.peacearchhospice.org/donate-online/

Tribute :Dear Family, dear LenieTo loose your wife or your mother is terrible for those who stay behind. Your mother was ill so now she has no pain anymore. And I know she lives in everybody's memories. In Holland we think al lot of our family abroad. We love you despite it is a long time ago that we met in real life. Peter had contact with Lenie past few years and he told us about the family ... I thank my brother for this. We hope to stay in contact and we wish you all strength. Love Inge
