It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beautiful daughter, Jessie Ann Richmond, on October 9, 2021 at the age of 20 years.
Jessie was disabled and non-verbal, but she spoke volumes by her actions and sounds. She will always be remembered for her feistiness and if she didn’t like something, you would find out pretty quick.
Jessie was the happiest and at her best when she attended school, no matter if it was elementary, middle school, high school, or daycare, and that’s because the teachers and students made it that way, as they accepted her the way she was. Even though Jessie was non-verbal, she beamed when she was on her way to school because she knew she was going to be with her friends and teachers and have some fun.
Jessie had a way of loving unconditionally and you couldn’t help but return that unconditional love. It taught us all how to accept a disabled person. That’s why she was so deeply loved.
Jessie travelled to many places with her family. She had been to San Francisco, Disneyland, Las Vegas, Portland, Reno, Seattle, Hawaii. She was granted a Disney Cruise through the Make a Wish Foundation which took her to Florida, Cozumel, Cayman Islands, Jamaica. But most importantly, she travelled many times to Saskatchewan and to Gibsons at the Sunshine Coast to visit extended family.
Jessie leaves to mourn her loving parents, Christine and Graham, older sister, Anna, her paternal grandparents, Tony and Marilyn Richmond, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by both maternal grandparents.
A service will not be held at this time. Cremation arrangements have been made with Oliveira Funeral Home, Port Coquitlam. A tribute may be posted on their website, if anyone so chooses.
May you run as fast as you can, eat anything you want, and speak your mind freely now. You can spend as much time as you want now with your Gramms and get to know your Gramps.
We love you with all our hearts, Jessie, and we will never forget you. You will be terribly missed. Until we meet again … “see you when we see you.” Rest in paradise.

Tribute :Jessie was one of a kind, I spent more time with Jessie than any other child beside my own kids and grandkids. She taught me so much, in her own way. Love to you all.
