Tribute :I had the wonderful luck to grow up in a house across the street from the Krueger Family in North Delta. There were times in my life when it felt like my family and theirs were one big family. They have been such a huge part of my life and I love them all very much, but I had a special relationship with Nick. So much so that he became my best friend and in many ways a father figure.Knowing Nick has been a true blessing. From the time that he rescued me from my front yard when I broke my ankle climbing trees as a child, to recently when he and Sylvia were there for me when I had a personal crisis, the man never let me down. Character counts for something and Nick’s character was such that it made people around him better. He has helped me to become a better person and I always ask myself in any situation; what would Nick Krueger do? How would he handle this? What I will remember most about Nick is his wit, and his ability to tell a story. I would sit in the front yard of his house with him and listen. Even if nothing was said for a minute, I would wait for him to speak so that I could hear what he had to say. His sense of humour was unique and I will never forget that little glimmer in his eye when he said something completely outrageous just to see if you were listening. There is a hole in my heart that can never be filled now. I will pray every day that God looks after his soul and brings peace to Sylvia for her loss. My heart goes out to the entire family, which I consider my family. I think a life worth living is one that makes the world a better place, and Nick did that in spades. What a great life, what a great man and what a great loss to all of us.
