Dr. Lawrence Ting-Kwok Wong

Dr. Lawrence Ting-Kwok Wong, 65, died August 31, 2011 in Langley, BC. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 6, 2011, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Vancouver, BC.



He was born on September 10, 1945 in Macau. In 1968, he graduated from Hong Kong University’s Medical program, and did his postgraduate pediatrics training in Hong Kong and Vancouver. He had a distinguished career specializing in cystic fibrosis and inborn errors of metabolism, serving as the Associate Director of Biochemical Diseases Clinical Services at BC Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. His contributions to clinical research included over 170 professional presentations and over 45 refereed publications in medical journals. Besides his academic practice, he was well loved by his patients. Artwork from patients who appreciated Dad’s humour, care and attention adorned walls of his office.



Dr. Wong was an active member of the Catholic Church, including service as the President of the Catholic Physician’s Guild, support for various Catholic charities around the world, and active work towards improved Catholic higher education.



Dr. Lawrence Wong was surrounded by his siblings and close family when he passed on. He is survived by his wife Sally, sons Leo and Solomon, daughters-in-law Flora and Vi as well as four grand-children Gabrielle, Nathan, Dominic and Catherine.
