Born in Richmond, BC on October 31st, 1993; passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2023, in Richmond, BC. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Mee Hwa Tiong, father Victor (Sunny), brother Matthew, uncles Carlos (Ada) and John Paul (Jennifer), cousins Lia and Sara, and many extended family members and friends.

Lucas, a joyful and fearless soul, grew up displaying exceptional talent as an athlete across various sports that were his passion in life, including soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, swimming, tennis and golf.  He was always a team-player, putting his teammates ahead of himself and constantly a selfless individual. He exemplified this in his social roller hockey career, winning championships with various team across various age groups and displaying undeniable talent including speed, agility and a blistering slap shot. Lucas even saved a best friend from drowning after the individual fell into deep water and was unable to swim to safety; he didn’t think twice about jumping in and rescuing his friend.

Lucas experienced mental health and addiction challenges in the second half of his life which were ultimately too much for him to overcome. He persevered throughout these challenges with the support of his immediate family, showing signs of improvement many times, but also experiencing many moments of regression. Throughout, his heart-warming smile never disappeared, and it was always a joy to connect and interact with Lucas despite his struggles. His path never crossed to a darker side which can easily happen to individuals with similar afflictions; the inner strength he possessed kept him on a righteous path.

Lucas always enjoyed the lighter side of life. Wearing either a mischievous smirk or jovial smile which would light up the room, his sense of humour was infectious, and it would be impossible not to join him for a good laugh. And that’s how Lucas will be remembered by those who loved, supported, and cared for him.  We miss and love Lucas so much!

Prayers will be said at 10:20 am on Friday, May 5th at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Vancouver on 1423 East 13th Avenue and the funeral mass will immediately follow at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend.
