“Lucille Marie Therese (Masson) Courchene

Born Feb. 3, 1926, in Prud’Homme, Saskatchewan. Lucille was the youngest of 6 children born to Aime and Blanche Masson. Predeceased by her loving husband, J. Lionel (1983), Lucille Is survived by her dear sister Cecile (Masson) Gates, her sons Albert and Dan (Anna), her grandsons Tyler and Nicholas and numerous nephews and nieces. Known for her tireless giving, Lucille was a perpetual volunteer; A Charter Member of the Catholic Women’s League, Toastmasters, Cerebral Palsy Assoc., Lady Lions, Surrey Memorial Hospital BOD, Surrey Woman of Distinction & Volunteer Award recipient and many more. For over 35 years Lucille was the heart of the international Variety Club’s BC Chapter where she gave so generously of her time, talents and treasures, resulting in countless Variety Club awards over the years. Lucille embodied the heart of volunteering through her winning smile and tireless work ethic, epitomizing servant-based leadership in everything she did. Lucille and Lionel were dedicated Catholics and parish fundraising leaders whose extraordinary efforts assisted in seeing 4 new Churches come to fruition; Our Lady of Good Counsel in Surrey, Immaculate Conception, Delta, St. Bernadette and St. Matthew’s both in Surrey. Lucille was a loving, faith-filled woman who cared deeply and was proud to show it in her daily actions. Our lovely little hat lady, Grandma Lucille, will be dearly missed by many, but fondly remembered, loved and appreciated forever. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to one of the charities that meant so much to Lucille throughout her life. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 15th at 3:00pm, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 16079 88th Ave. Surrey, BC. Fr. Augustine Obiwumma, Pastor/Celebrant.
