Manuel Da Silva passed away peacefully at the age of 89. He
will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years Leonarda, his son
Manuel, daughter-in law Cidalia, grandson Michael (Alka), granddaughter
Jennifer, and his two cherished great grandsons Jayan and Arman. Manuel
was born in Pico Azores, Portugal and moved his family to Canada in
1960 where together he and his wife built a life from scratch, first
finding work and then learning English. He worked for MacMillan Bloedel for 33 years before retiring at age 63. In
his retirement he enjoyed playing cards at the church, camping in Birch
Bay, and growing his garden and fig trees. Services will be held at
Our Lady Of Fatima Portuguese Parish, 1423 13th Ave, Vancouver, on Thursday January 8th. The Rosary will begin at 1:00pm and Funeral Mass at 1:30.
The burial will follow at Ocean View, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation of B.C.“
