SABATINO – Biagio Passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at Royal Columbian Hospital on Monday, April 14th, 2008 with his family at his side. Biagio was born on May 25th, 1951 in Gerocarne, Vibo Valentia, Italy. He came to Canada in 1953 with his family in order to join his father Michele who had preceded them to McBride, B.C., their new home. Biagio’s early years were spent happily in McBride and many of his memories were about those formative years. He has lived and worked in the Vancouver area since the family moved to Vancouver in 1963. Everyone who touched his life loved Biagio. There are not enough words to describe Biagio but a few are a loving and devoted husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, brother-in-law, friend; hardworking, helpful, cheerful, and generous. He will be sadly missed and be in our hearts forever. His smile, selflessness, sense of humour and love of life will never be forgotten. Predeceased by his father Michele in 2006 and infant brother Paolo and infant sister Nidia in the 1940’s, Biagio is survived and deeply missed by his mother Maria Carmela, his loving and devoted wife Maria Alice, his loving children, daughter Erika (Garry Elgear), daughter Bianca (Jeff) Beaulieu and son Anthony, and their mother Kathy; stepson Jamie (Elaine) Costa (grandson Vincent), and stepdaughter Priscilla Costa. He is also dearly loved and mourned by his brothers and sisters, Paul (Barbara), Caterina (Antonio), Teresa (Paul), Domenico (Lena), Anna (Simon), and many nieces and nephews. Biagio is also missed and loved by his in-laws Luis and Delfina, Jack (Lydia) and family, Julia (Jack) and family. Biagio has cousins, aunts, uncles and friends in Canada, Italy, Australia and Argentina who will all miss him profoundly. In our sorrow, we give thanks for the joy he brought to our lives. He will live in our memories and hearts, and in the lives of his children. His family would like to thank the staff involved in his care at Royal Columbian Hospital for their support and compassion during this difficult time. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, April 20th, at 5:30 PM at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, B.C. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21st at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Oceanview Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. Funeral arrangements made by Oliveira Funeral Home (604-942-7920)
