Sanae (Sekiguchi) Hogan, 76, of Burnaby, passed away peacefully October 30, 2023.
She was born on July 17, 1947 in Tokyo, Japan, and came to Canada in 1975 where she met and married her late husband Michael Hogan, sharing 41 years together. She was a beautiful, generous and kind wife and mother who gave her children Jesse, Luke and Marie all the love, praise and support they could ever want. She liked to draw funny caricatures of her family, enjoyed reading, loved music and singing, and loved to cook and try out new recipes on her family. She cared deeply for the welfare of the Chaffey-Burke Elementary school children she guarded at the crosswalk to the school, for many years. She devoted a significant portion of her life to Jesus Christ and felt a holy kinship with Blessed Virgin Mary, and regularly participated with the Holy Rosary Cathedral CWL at events and prayer sessions. She will be dearly missed by her sons, and grandchildren: Michael, Maria, Daniel, Jessica and John.

Tribute :Sanae was a wonderful woman who I remember fondly from my childhood. She made the best lunches and always had the best snacks four us kids. I remember Sanae to be very funny, kind and she had a huge heart. I have such good memories of Sanae when looking back. I send all my thoughts and prayers to Luke and Jesse and their families.

Tribute :Sanae always seemed to have a smile on her face whenever we ran into at various soccer fields. Her love and devotion to her late husband Mike gave her the fortitude to deal with his passion for soccer.. When she was controlling the crosswalk on Willingdon, you could see her being friendly with the children while taking her duties very seriously. We believe that her children were lucky to have Sanae as their mother. They way they became adults shows what a great job she did raising them.We have lost a wonderful person with her passing.
