It is with profound sadness that the family of Shirley Armillotta (Coyne)announce her passing on February 11, 2026, in Vernon, B.C. Shirley is finally at rest with her beloved husband Joseph. She was born in Capreol, Ontario October 30, 1931. Shirley and Joe married in 1957 and moved to Sudbury, Ontario where the family grew to 3 sons and 1 daughter.
In 1972 because of Joe’s job with the CPR, they moved to Port Coquitlam, B.C. Shirley led a full life devoted to her family, her faith and her community. Her commitment to service and caring heart earned her many accolades and awards both locally, Canada and beyond. Shirley loved the Catholic Women’s League of Canada and had been a member since 1951. She served as Diocesan President and on the Provincial Council. Shirley accepted the honour of Life Member in 1997 and the Canadian Caring Award from the Lieutenant Governor in 1998 for her service to the League. Shirley will be missed and loved always by her children Jim (Angie), Ann Marie (Dell), Peter and Greg. Grandchildren Joe, Jeanine (Jeremy), Brandon (Taylor), Jason, Angelo and Gianni. Great grandchildren Jack, James, Mila, Zachary and Kiara.
Cousin Mary Burgess, nieces and nephews and many friends. She is predeceased by husband Joe, Sister Rita, parents James and Jean Coyne, and grandson Jimmy. Her funeral Mass is March 26, 2026 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Port Coquitlam. A reception will follow.

Tribute :Condolences to all Shirley’s family. While she moved away from Port Coquitlam a few years ago she was always be in our hearts and fondest memories. Shirley was a TRUE leader at Our Lady of the Assumption . Her vision and guidance enabled the school to be built and paid for in a short time frame. Fond memories at Friday night BINGO and Saturday night catering wedding receptions. Shirley love her family and CWL. She will always live in our hearts

Tribute :Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to her life. She was truly a blessing to our CWL council and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. As a mentor, she guided us with kindness, wisdom, and a deep faith that strengthened our council and brought life and unity to our work.Her dedication and spirit helped shape our community in ways that will continue to inspire us. I am grateful for all she shared with us and for the example she set. Tribute :Whenever Shirley asked us to do something for the parish, we were eager to help out. A few days later we would receive a hand written letter of thanks from Shirley. We loved those letters. She was so personable and articulate. God bless Shirley.
